Capacity Building
Building skills and confidence at the participant’s own pace.
There’s no rush. Skills grow when someone has the time and the support to practise.
What this support includes
What we work on.
- Life skills — cooking, budgeting, getting around, looking after yourself
- Communication — finding what works (speech, writing, AAC, anything)
- Decision-making — having a say in your own life
- Independence — broken into small steps that actually fit
- Routine — habits that hold up over time
- Confidence — practised in the places it matters
Who this is for
Anyone building toward more independence.
Whether the participant is learning a skill for the first time, getting one back after a setback, or keeping up something they already have.
For families
You’ll see what’s working, what isn’t, and what we’re trying next.
For coordinators
Notes tied to plan goals. Reports ready when you need them.
How we work
A few things to know.
·
The participant sets the pace
If something’s too fast, we slow it down. If it’s too slow, we say so.
·
Start with what works
Build on strengths, don’t fixate on gaps.
·
Practise where it counts
Real kitchens, real shops, real buses — not role-play.
·
Honest reviews
If a goal isn’t working, we change it. We won’t pretend otherwise.
