Your rights as a participant.

Care that is respectful, dignified, and on your terms is your right — not a favour.

As a participant receiving supports from Kia Maia Care Supports, you have rights under the NDIS Code of Conduct, the NDIS Practice Standards, and broader Australian human rights law. We hold these rights at the centre of every interaction.

You have the right to

Be safe

Receive supports that are free from violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation, or discrimination.

Be respected

Be treated with dignity and respect for your individual identity, culture, gender, sexuality, religion, beliefs, and lifestyle.

Make your own decisions

Choose your supports, your providers, your goals, and how your plan is delivered. Withdraw consent at any time.

Privacy

Have your personal information kept confidential and stored securely, and to know how it is used.

Quality supports

Receive supports delivered safely, competently, and in line with best practice.

Cultural identity

Have your culture, language, whānau, and identity respected and reflected in how supports are delivered.

Speak up

Raise concerns, give feedback, or make a complaint without fear of negative consequences.

Independence

Pursue your own goals, take reasonable risks, and live the life you choose.

Advocacy

Have a support person, advocate, family member, or interpreter help you at any time.

Information

Receive clear, accessible information about your supports, costs, and any changes.

Our responsibilities

We will:

  • Treat you and your whānau with respect and dignity
  • Communicate clearly and on time
  • Listen to your goals and shape supports around them
  • Keep your information safe and confidential
  • Be honest about what we can and cannot do
  • Respond to feedback and complaints openly
  • Continually improve our practice
